We were invited by the Museum of Architecture to design the masterplan for The Gingerbread City, an annual exhibition where architects, designers and engineers create an entire city made of gingerbread, each year responding to a new masterplan that explores a contemporary urban theme.
Across three editions, we have designed the masterplan exploring how nature can coexist with the city and reimagining gingerbread as a material for urban storytelling. Each exhibition has taken on a different theme, from pollinator corridors and wetlands to urban farms, floodplains and global climatic zones. Each edition turns complex urban ideas into playful, edible form, inspiring visitors of all ages to imagine more sustainable, inclusive futures for our cities.
